I've been selling on Vinted since 2023 with success in some categories, but limited movement in others. My Vinted review outlines my experience selling on the platform.

My verdict on Vinted in 30 seconds

Vinted works well if you're selling affordable fashion to budget buyers. You keep the sales price, since buyers pay the commissions. However, weak customer support means you'll need to resolve problems on your own. 

What is Vinted?

Vinted, a Lithuanian-based reselling platform, operates in Europe and is gradually expanding into the United States. The platform now serves over 100 million users. 

You can list secondhand clothing, electronics, sporting goods, shoes, and accessories without paying any commission. You keep the full sale price because Vinted doesn’t charge standard selling commissions or listing fees. • Messaging and offers: Built-in messaging lets you negotiate prices, ask questions about condition, and request additional photos before committing to a purchase. Buyers can submit using the “Make an Offer” button (25 offers per day limit) or by messaging sellers directly (unlimited). Sellers can accept, decline, or counter offers. 
• Quick payouts: Your payment clears when the buyer confirms everything is OK, or it clears automatically 2 days after delivery if they don’t report any issues. 

Vinted’s issues 

• Scam risks: Scammers impersonate Vinted through fake messages, emails, and phishing sites designed to steal login credentials or payment information. They often pressure users to click suspicious links, move conversations off‑platform, or complete transactions outside the official checkout. Scammers are also increasingly using AI-generated photos and fake listings to commit fraud.
• Inconsistent support: Customer service responses are slow and often unhelpful when disputes arise. Users report waiting days for replies, only to receive generic answers that don't resolve their problems. 
• Clothing dominates the marketplace: Clothing and fashion items dominate Vinted, so categories like electronics and home goods typically attract less buyer attention.
• Limited U.S. buyer base: Vinted is still much better known in Europe than in the U.S. The American buyer base is smaller and growing slowly.

My personal Vinted review

I’ve used Vinted since early 2023 and have had mixed success. Here’s my experience with the platform:

What impressed me …

• Zero fees kept profits intact: I appreciated not losing chunks to platform commissions. This made listing low-value items like $10 T-shirts worthwhile, unlike on other marketplaces, where fees eat into slim margins.
• Great for budget clothing listings: My affordable pieces sold faster than similar higher-end items I've sold elsewhere. Budget pieces like $15 jeans and $8 sweaters often sold within a few days for me when they were competitively priced.
• Intuitive listing process: Creating new listings took under 2 minutes once I learned the flow. I snapped photos, added a quick description, selected the category, and published without wrestling with complicated forms.

Here’s what frustrated me …

• Support quality fell short: I had a buyer dispute the quality of a sweater I sold them. For over a week, I tried to contact support but didn’t receive any useful response. I ended up accepting the losses. But I adopted better listing techniques, like posting more close-up photos and communicating with buyers about potential issues after the sale.

Avoid Vinted if …

• You sell high-value items: Although Vinted offers a luxury verification service for designer items over $100 and some brands like Louis Vuitton sell quite quickly, the overall audience skews toward affordable secondhand fashion. Vinted's zero seller fees mean you keep 100% of the sale price (unlike other marketplaces), which can maximize profits on high-end sales. If speed is your priority over margins, try Poshmark or Depop.
• You don’t sell clothing: Although you can sell home goods and electronics on Vinted, the vast majority of buyers want clothing and accessories. Both eBay and Mercari are excellent for categories beyond apparel.
